While waiting for my crew to arrive,
I will say that, yes, my new job director of development of CHIP of Roanoke Valley.
If you want to know more about the organization, go to www.chiprv.com, or Google the keywords. Everything is explained on the site.
I received an e-mail, since deleted, stating that I’ve essentially already abandoned this blog. Certainly there was a drop-off in activity yesterday, but I’ve just been tired owing to my having had some overdue fun.
It would be nice to know how many people plan to be at Coda on Wednesday. That way, I could decide whether to show up myself or send a sub (as with the Hokie Bird, three different people play my role depending on the situation).
Do we have a time yet?
Otherwise, I’m still tired and possibly coming down with a cold. I’m trying to remember where I was when somebody sneezed in the past 72 hours. I didn’t wander far.
Feel free to participate in this thing.

Shame on whoever sent that e-mail…. your faithful readers were all hoping you were out on your boat, drinking a Harp, and enjoying the sunshine. Not every blogger has daily entries!
MM and I plan to be there at 7:00 p.m. to scope out and snatch a table up. Then we’ll back the truck up and bring in Andrew’s cake containing the naked gramma …………… er, lady.
500 mg Vitamin C in a.m. and 500 mg. in the p.m., and 2 Harps every evening (More during Thursday evening’s game if necessary)
Congratulations on your new career. You know where to find us if you need volunteers! (can I wear my pink boa?)
Well, the buzz around town is that most of Roanoke is planning to attend. I’ve also heard that the paparazzi will be there to get the latest photos of the new Development Director of CHIP! Hey, you may even get interviewed by RT! Of course, this could be hearsay. :)
I know for a fact that Mary in C’Burg and I will be there at 7:00. We hope that others who enjoy this blog will join us! By the way, we will accept NO substitutes.
7:00 at Coda on Wed., Oct. 23.
Congrats on the new beginnings. You shouldn’t apologize for not blogging, you’re on your own time…
Joe, remember Sunday suppose to be rest day anyway so that is why is was slow on the blog. I talked to a friend and she said if you do not get there early you will not get a place to sit or even stand. She said it was blue grass night. It will be packed there. I will be there with bells on. If it is so packed, how will we know to find everybody, except for you. Nice Picture. DId you get my email about your old babysitter?
Oh, what kind of fun did you have. Tell us all about it
Hey, congrats Joe!!! Looks like a great program!! Not much better in life than helping kids!!!!
As for the abandoned blog…well, folks need to get a life. I happen to think your prose meets or exceeds, in both volume and quality, the market value of the price of my subscription….
Don’t folks realize that you aren’t compensated other than what little fun we invisible lurkers give back after you post????????????????????
Keep us posted on the job AND on any events related to the efforts to help the kids!!
Not coming to Coda on Wednesday I am afraid. I am only in the star city on Tuesdays and Thursdays…and alternating weekends…
Win
Well, I had the cold/crud thing really bad last week and was on the Sudafed severe cold meds until finally….
I feel better!!
Joe, are you still trying to get out of the Coda meet and greet?
Correction on the date for the Coda happening:
7:00 at Coda on Wed., Oct. 24!!!!!!!
Bluegrass? Well, HOT DOG!!! I’ll just have to wear my cowboy boots!
I won’t be at Coda but I hope you all have a great time!
Me neither, but likewise!
Joe–Where is this place on Wednesday? I’m assuming that there is beer involved.
I can’t believe you got an email like that. Do people expect you to be on the computer 24-7?
My God, it was Sunday (our rest day) !! ( and just gotta mention.. JJ won the race & the Redskins won.. YIPEE!)
I plan to be there this wed. and wasn’t planning on coming till around 7:30. If yall really think the place will be packed, I think I’ll move my time up. I have no idea what the seating looks like in this place. Never been there so anyone, please correct me if I’m wrong. Opposite side of Grandin Theatre, the same block? I know where Mick or Mack is etc. Do they have their own parking in back or is it on the street?
(ps.. Annette, lets just meet at Annie Moores, have a few, then we can stumble in.) JUST KIDDING!
Another thing, Do the owners of Coda know we’re havin a little bash there for Mr Cuppa, oops, I mean Mr CHIP? Congrats on the new job~
Good Lord ‘n butter. It’s not like you’re a full-time, professional blogger — it’s a hobby, fer cryin’ out loud! I’ve been known to go months without updating mine.
I was glad to hear about your new job (vocation?). CHIP’s an excellent organization, and I know you will serve them well. Best of luck to you.
Y’all have fun at Coda on Wednesday!
Thank you, Laura. I’ve discovered a blog can overtake your life, particularly if you, meaning me,of course, don’t have one.
Chip is cool. Coda? I’m still deciding who gets to wear the Cuppa Joe mascot suit. I can’t be everywhere …
The good thing about a jonboat, Cris, is that you can leave in the driveway for a full summer, not use it even once and not feel all that bad. I mean, it cost $900 about 20 years ago.
Now the motor, that is newer, and it was expensive.
Coda is across the street from the Rockfish on Grandin Road, opposite the movie theater, remember that? We walked past it that night and music was playing, but we didn’t go in.
It does have beer. It doesn’t have any beer that I care for, based on the German one I had. We all could end up at the Irish pub after all. Especially if a lot of people are there for the music. But weeknights, the musicians often outnumber the customers, in my limited experience.
Come on up.
Joe. I still think we should go to the pub. German beer, No American beer. This is so unpatriotic> I did hear it will be packed, standing room only. Can we park in the back. How will we find anybody. I will be able to find Kat but the rest.
You are coming, no ifs or buts. You are. Mr Chip.
Well, I guess none of us bloggers have a life, either! :)
I enjoy reading what you have to say, just like I have for many years, but I certainly don’t expect anything. That is ridiculous. To me, this is a gift. A contribution of your time. And I thank you!
Oh Gee, I’ll just fit right in then but I’m NOT wearin my boots! I can flatfoot better barefoot.. HA! ( no, I will not dance)
Is this place really gonna be that crowded? If it is.. okay Joe.. you’re the one who said it… we might end up at the Irish pub instead. Now, are you talking about the one on 419 or do we all need to plan an overnight bag if we’re traveling to WV? I need to know which vehicle to drive~~~~
Hope you’re feeling better and you ‘better’ feel better! What’s The Joe beer feat without you? Rest day for you tomorrow..
LOL Mary, wear you pink boa so I’ll know where you are!
Move it now? Geez, I don’t think that’s possible.
We could all end up at the Community Inn, but people smoke in there, so include me out.
There is parking behind the coffee shop. There is parking on the main street (watch out for the traffic calmers!) and on the residential streets.
Somebody asked if I told Bob at Coda that we were coming. Since I expect no more than four to six people to show up, I don’t see that as a problem.
But it could be crowded because of the music. I’m not responsible. I’m just hoping I don’t oversleep. We retirees take long naps after dinner, y’know…
If it gets crowded, we can walk over to Pop’s and have Root Beer floats instead. Being positive and flexible is the key to a great evening!
(The Community Inn is definitely out as far I’m concerned, too.)
ps. you aren’t retired anymore, but good try.
Where on earth is the Community Inn? I’m so lost but I know you’re kidding. ( and Joe beer feat?. ) I guess I was still thinking about going barefoot.
I have a confession to make and it’s a bad one, it’s a bad habit and I’m tryin… a little hard to do right now but I’ve always believed smoking should be outside especially where many non smokers are. It’s been said before, I know, we’re the dirtiest people on earth.. no big news to me. Sent (and was published) many letters to the editor on that one! I smoke and I still wrote on the STUPID people throwing cig buts out their windows, whether dry conditions or not, it’s litering and filthy. I’ve beeped my horn at people before who thro them out. Years ago, remember the couple that was evicted from their Pebble Creek or Honeywood apt. because they smoked? They were elderly & the neighbors complained… Helloe? sprry, I didn’t know that their smoking actually seeped thru the walls to their neighbors, etc. etc. I couldn’t help myself.. after my letter appeared.. the couple contacted me thru many names in the phone book. They invited me over for a drink (ha) she was so sweet. They had lived there for ‘years’!! Sorry, got carried away, thanks for listening to a little ‘venting’ ~~
Congrats, but I saw it in the Sunday Business section.. Turned to the wife and said - Betcha’ that’s Joe..
It should be right up your alley too. I have family that does the same job up in NY.. they love it - when it’s not a headache.
Anyway - congrats!
Joe, you crazy boy…if you snooze, you lose…
Thank you. It promises to be a whole new thang. Been a while since I could say that.
Joe
Hi everyone,
Looks like Joe decided to take the boat out afterall and he can’t find the ramp to get back in? .. OR .. at home resting, sleeping getting rid of that crud, for his night tomorrow?
Laura: ‘Good Lord’n butter’. I’m gonna have to remember that one!
Joe, hope you feel better soon. I use Cold-Eeze Lozenges at the first sign of a cold. It is Zinc Cold Drop Lozenges. Found where other cold remedys are located. I also take 1000mg daily and just take “lots” more on first sign of a cold.
I am sorry you did not get to go boating but enjoyed your hike..you turn lemons into lemonade.
Sorry someone emailed you about the blog…they do need to get a life. Congrat on the job. They always need volunteers..great organization.
I heard this am there are close to a million people now displaced in California…hard to wrap my mind around that many people…lets remember them in our thoughts and prayers.
Melinda,
This is truly a tragedy. All in CA remain in my prayers including all wildlife.
I’ve been thinking about MK who posts on this blog. I believe she lives in CA, I think maybe San Francisco? I’m not sure if that area is affected.
She lives in Marin County near SF. The fires are in southern California, as far as I know, Malibu, LA, San Diego area.
That’s good to hear that her family is north of the fires. I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t been keeping up with the National News as of late. Too much happening in my world!
